Happy Monday!!! I wanted to share the deets on an outfit that is on constant rotation in my daily life.
I have to start with this Alala top. It is long, flattering and on the shoulders and down the back it has an amazing mesh panel. I love the cap sleeves and high neck and because of the mesh down the back it doesn’t get too hot! Shop it here! I received it in my most recent My Sweat Style box and I swear its the one piece that gets worn at least twice a week! (you can read about past boxes here and here.)
Lastly, my sneakers. I can’t say enough about these run around town comfies. I found them on discount at Six02 about a year ago and the gold and animal print obviously caught my eye!! I looked to see if they were still on their website, sadly they are gone, however I did find these that might be shipping soon 🙂
Hope this quick post finds you well! Find any amazing camou/olive pieces out there?? Let me know in the comments below! (PS: use code MARILENAGER50 for 25% off at Carbon38)
Hey hey!!! Big news is here! The hiatus is because we just relocated to San Antonio!! The move was bittersweet and I miss the connections I made while in El Paso, but I am thrilled to be back in central Texas and with all the green!!! The one thing I’m not too excited about is the humidity. I know it’s amazing for your skin but man do I miss that dry heat!
Blogfest is coming up in one week (!!!) I can not wait to get out to California and meet so many inspiring bloggers, like my roommate! Since I have packing and outfit making on my mind I wanted to share a post about a piece of active wear that has my full attention – the skirt. I have found so many great options from Nike, Adidas and of course Lululemon.
It’s such a great piece for people like me who don’t necessarily like wearing short tight shorts. The skirt pairs well with all shoes from sneakers to flips and from tanks to long sleeves.
Take a look at my favorites in my closet and those I have found around town. Do you have a go to skirt you throw on? I’m sure there is a brand I’m overlooking so let me know in the comments below!!
-why I love this- I don’t own any of the new colors, I actually found a great print about a year ago on sale (double great!) and I can’t stop wearing it. The pleats in the back are a little longer so not only is it slimming but it gives great overage too!
Adidas Barricade Skort
-why I love this- so I don’t have this skirt although the preferated skirt has me interested! What I have found with the Adidas skirts though is they are definitely shorter than all the rest.
Subscription boxes seem to be all the rage these days and I am not going to lie, I love them. There is something about coming home to a box on my doorstep full of surprises. I think it reminds me of when I was in college and my mom would send me random care packages with items I didn’t realize I needed but loved as soon as I opened them!
While this wasn’t my first delivery, I received my first box back in November, I wanted to share it with you because the process and experiences have both been awesome!
My Sweat Style is a fitness focused subscription box that delivers a curated selection of premium activewear all within your specifications. When you first visit My Sweat Style, you will fill out a profile answering questions including what kind of workouts you participate in, what your hobbies are and of course your sizes.
Once you complete this profile, you can then say how important brand, fabric, fit and price are to you. If there is anything else you want to let your stylist know you can include that as well.
Enter your payment information and wait for the email that says your SweatStyle is on its way!
It is $20 when they ship you your box. When you receive your box there is an itemized receipt that states how much each item is and whatever you keep will be charged to the card you entered into your profile. You can take 5 days to try on the items and make your selection. Then return the ones you don’t want!
A little bonus, if you keep 3 or more items they will give you 20% off your total and apply the $20 Sweat fee you already paid.
According to their website, tops range from $35-$125, bottoms range from $55-$140, sports bras from $35-$100 and outerwear from $50-$250. To ensure you don’t get shipped items outside of your budget (like I did in November) there is a question on how important price is to you.
Lets talk about what I received this go around! (I have linked each item so you can see them on a model)
Unfortunately, just like the last time, I returned all five pieces. But unlike last time I loved most of the pieces at first glance, the fits were all just a little off for me. The Danielle top was super cute but a little sort for my taste, the built in bra was also a little big. The python pants felt awesome but I wasn’t crazy about the length. I also couldn’t justify keeping another black work out tank since I have about 10 already. The Varley croc crop was cute, but I didn’t feel like a must have. Finally, the Koral leggings were AMAZING!!! The feel of the fabric and the color were awesome. You can’t tell in my picture but they are navy and black and felt like a dream on. One problem, they were WAY too small! I have never worn this brand or tried it on so unfortunately I did not know they ran so small.
Even though I did not keep anything, I was exposed to two new brands that I had not tried before. I need to tweak my profile and keep my fingers crossed that more works out for me in May!
Have you tried My Sweat Style? What was your experience and what did you get??
My uniform over the past few months has definitely shifted to the more casual, athleisure aesthetic and I find myself spending HOURS on websites such as Bandier, Carbon38, Lorna Jane, Prana and the long time favorites Six:02, Nike and Reebok. I just love looking at the new product and finding the common threads between them all. (I would love it even more if I could have it all and wear it everyday!! A girl can dream…) Until then, I thought why not start a series highlighting what trends I have found in the world of athleisure!
